Leadership in my community
La base de cualquier sociedad es la Familia
Leadership in my community
The foundation looks at how leadership can be fostered in each child and looks at how it can be integrated into activities. In addition, the foundation wants to go deeper into this aspect and that is why the collaboration with the foundation Che Amigo was started. Under the guidance of Jasper and Ivy, the founders of Che Amigo, the Fundación Caminos team developed during a one-year program how to integrate 'Leadership in my community' activities.
It is of great importance to involve the family and the caregivers of children in the activities of the foundation. The family and caregivers are the foundation of the children, and therefore meetings are organized with the aim of improving the upbringing of the children.
Method
During the ‘Caminos al Maximo’ activities, it becomes clear to the children what 'Leadership in my community' entails. Every year we start with a new group of children from the neighborhoods of Carambolas and Bello Oriente.
For the formation of a group, children between the ages of 14 and 18 can apply or the foundation contacts them to participate.
Leadership in my community consists of activities in which children know themselves better, learn to listen, observe and speak in front of a group. This happens in a safe and reliable way with a diversity of dynamic activities.
Eventually, children will be able to take initiatives themselves and develop to improve their own neighborhood. This whole process is supervised by the foundation with the aim of the child developing and also making the neighborhood more livable.
Activities
Four to five times a year the foundation organizes a meeting for the parents and caregivers of the children. Each meeting has a topic, such as sexual abuse, drugs consumption among youth, domestic violence, and so on.
Every two weeks the children of the group 'Leadership in my community' meet. The activities are dynamic and are organized at El Paraíso headquarters or another place to be determined.
As soon as the children have developed an initiative, it will be accompanied by the foundation when necessary.
